This is a sculptural composition, where the main goal was to present and emphasise the beauty of poplar burl. Burl is a very decorative material, with many nuances, grain spots and discolourations.
The table is based on traditional carpentry joints such as dovetails, which form the structure of the furniture.
The Power of Things series: This is an attempt to find hidden strength and raw energy in wooden structures. This strength is a kind of mystery, enclosed in an undefined form, which often resembles an ancient damaged tool, part of a larger structure or a relic of ancient cultures. The object – a mystery with a blurred meaning, but harmonising with the inner vibration of man.
